Join Bode NYC and Monique Crous for a Posture Clinic followed by a special evening HOT HIIT class.

Deepen your HOT HIIT practice Saturday March 10th. In this 90 minute posture clinic we will break down the form of all the basic exercises practiced every day in HOT HIIT. Form and correct spinal alignment for planks, side planks, glute bridges, squats, burpees, etc. will be discussed and demonstrated. Teachers will assist with personal corrections and modification suggestions will be given. You will then take your knowledge with you as you dance it out in a special 60 minute HOT HIIT class. Glow sticks provided!

Abigail Karina DeVine is a facilitator who applies ancient tried-and-true modalities to support her clients in moving beyond blocks that stifle happiness. After becoming a Bikram and Dharma style yoga teacher and a body work therapist adept at a number of styles, including Thai and the luscious Hawaiian Lomi Lomi style, Abigail discovered a love for sound therapy. Abigail went to Nepal where she studied Tibetan Singing Bowls with Chantayree, the Tibetan singing bowl master enabling her to provide comprehensive vibrational sound healing therapy for her clients.  To further expand on her skills, she recently studied ancient Tibetan massage with Dr. Tsewang. Tibetan singing bowls have become a core piece in her healing practices. 

Abigail’s work speaks to those who are interested in personal transformation and spiritual abundance.  She is a facilitator who inspires people to attain happiness by breaking through their painful physical and mental blocks. She teaches yoga, performs vibrational sound and energy work, bodywork and personal guidance. Take Me Higher

Take Me Higher, an exploration of the non-physical aspects of yoga with Jerome Burdi 

This workshop will focus on the non-physical aspects of yoga such as pranayama, meditation, and kirtan. Through the use of these modalities the practitioner may connect to higher states of consciousness. These techniques have been used to harness the immense power we have inside each of us, allowing us to dissolve the boundaries we have built against becoming our true selves. 

Pranayama techniques help us to connect our heart and mind, otherwise known as our fourth and sixth chakras, allowing us to get in touch with our intuition and the deep compassion we have for all beings. Kirtan activates the fifth chakra, our center for expression, creative communication and faith. In a world that wants us to be anything but ourselves having the ability to tap into that place of expression cultivates devotion, which brings joy and harmony within ourselves and with our practice. 

When we tap into these higher states of being amazing life shifts occur. After we utilize the power of music and singing to activate our fifth chakra Jerome will guide practitioners into a yoga nidra meditation. Yoga nidra brings the body, mind, heart and spirit into that deep meditative place where healing may occur. It is said that one hour of yoga nidra is equal to a full night of sleep.

Jerome Burdi is an 800-hour certified Dharma Yoga teacher living in New York City. He teaches master and all levels classes at the NYC Dharma Yoga Center and also shares the teachings in yoga schools around the world. Jerome discovered yoga during a shamanic retreat in Brazil. Since then, he’s been enveloped in the path of a yogi. He left his job as a newspaper journalist to go to Rishikesh, India, and become a yoga teacher. Upon returning to NYC, he discovered Dharma Yoga and has been hooked ever since. Though Jerome grew up in NY, he had to go to India to come back and see Sri Dharma Mittra with clear eyes and to hear his message of truth. Jerome’s mission is to spread his guru’s teachings. He is also a holistic nutritionist and a drummer in the Dharma Yoga Kirtan Band.

Join Dev Kapil, Ky Ha, Tereza Bonnet and Gloria Suen this September for a 2 day comprehensive yoga workshop. We’re thrilled to welcome Dev (India), Ky (England) and Tereza (Czech Republic) along side our very own Gloria Suen to New York City for this one of a kind event!

OVERVIEW/SCHEDULE

Following a 90 min-Bikram Yoga class, these 3-4 hour workshops will refine / deepen your knowledge and practice of hatha yoga through targeted exercises to build strength and flexibility. We will guide you with hands on adjustments on physical practice to help you take your postures to the next level. This is also a good opportunity to come with questions about your practice. Be prepared to sweat, laugh and stretch your way to a stronger practice. The workshop will be limited to 50 people, making this an intimate experience.

Dev Kapil: World Champion Master Yograttan Dev Kapil hails from a line of distinguished Yogis. He began his yogic journey in India at the tender age of 3, under the careful guidance of his father, following the legacy passed down by his Grandfather Yogiraj Rishikesh Shastri, a renowned astrologer and Vedic scholar. Master Dev has studied and taught movement for over two decades of his yogic journey in different parts of Asia ,Europe and USA.

Ky Ha: World Champion Ky Ha is a dynamic and enthusiastic individual and his teaching skills have been responsible for training a number of yoga champions. Growing up, Ky suffered numerous car accidents and, as a result, incurred chronic ailments throughout his body. He took his first Bikram yoga class in July of 2003 at the advice of a friend and found something that truly changed his life. Ky graduated from the Bikram Yoga teacher training in the summer of 2004. Ky is dedicated and focused on using his expertise, knowledge and past experiences to help others achieving their goals through their own yoga practice. He currently resides and teaches in London.

Tereza Bonnet-Senkova:  Tereza is owner and head of Bikram Yoga Prague. A former dancer with Moulin Rouge Paris, she used Bikram Yoga to help recondition her tired body. Later Bikram Yoga helped her rehabilitate her hips after surgeries. Tereza heads up the Technical Committee for the International Yoga Sports Federation, and has coached competitors around the world.

NFL Legends Visit Midtown

Daily Bikram yoga practitioner and former Solstice in Times Square demonstrator Tracy Perlman (NY Times Profile) brought a group of NFL Hall of Famers to our Midtown location for a 6am sunrise class this morning.

Pictured left to right: Ed Reynolds, Rocket Ismail, Will Shields, Donnie Edwards, Donovin Darius, Mack Strong, Gary Cobb, Leonard Wheeler, Tony Richardson and Mike Rucker – these guys were seriously dedicated.  Georgia Balligian, who led the class, said “their training as athletes gave them the mental strength and intense focus which is so important in a yoga practice.”
